The Top 5 Differences Between German and Italian Cars

Cars, like women (minus the whole crazy aspect), vary when they are from different parts of the world. For example, the general perception with American cars is that, like the nation's populace, grow exponentially every year in terms of gas guzzling and power. Thinking along these lines, The Autoblog presents the Differences Between German and Italian Cars.

1. Italian Cars cannot be pushed to their limit.
Apparently, you can beat a German car like a red-headed stepchild and the sicko will beg for more. They are masochists, just begging for more pain. On the other hand, Italian cars are like Paris Hilton on The Simple Life- You put it to work, it bitches and moans, breaks a nail (or a clutch) and calls it a day. Winner- German

These two pictures are one in the same

2. Italian Cars are Sexier
Well, there is a reason that these Ferraris cannot be pushed- they are too friggin' beautiful to drive. You wouldn't put a supermodel (that you owned and paid 100,000k for nonetheless) to run laps for 24 hours in a row would you? Fuck no! German cars, while a favorite of the Autoblog staff, are like Female Softball players- some are hot, others are just burley, strong women with big shoulders that have something to prove. Case in point- the Audi R8 and the VW Bug. Can't have that big ball of ugly on the roster, sorry fellas. Consistency gives this battle over to the Italians.
Winner- Italian Cars

3. German Cars Are The New York Yankees of Racing

Italy won 13 Le Mans victories, winning 5 in a row, with their last one being in 1964. Germany took home 26 victories, with a streak of 7, (they also had a streak of five in the 1980s with driver Jacky Ickx at the helm) with their last victory being 2007. Uhh that kind of speaks for itself, I don't even have a witty remark.
Winner- German Cars

4. Mugello Vs. The Nurburgring

Thunder and the forgeries of Birmingham, England birthed heavy metal. The Ghettos of NYC, L.A. and St. Louis fueled Rap. Mugello and the Nordschielfe are the testing grounds for Italian and German cars respectfully. Mugello is a decent track too, with its smooth curves, long straights. You can tell it was designed by Italians, the people of art, culture and fine food. The 'Ring on the other hand screams German- Cold, precise and narrow. Its been dubbed the Green Hell by drivers- driving on that thing at above 65mph is basically suicide. Its 12 miles long. Nazi's designed this thing- its torture, and the tracks incredibly badass nature gives this one to the Germans
Winner- German Cars

5. Ferrari and Masarati will Get you Laid More Than A Porsche or BMW

Watch any 80's movie. What is the douchebag badguy in the multicolored tie with the oily ponytail driving? Yup- a Porsche 911. Or is that a Mercedes. What did the Detectives in Miami Vice drive? A Ferrari Testarossa. What about Magnum P.I.- Yup- a Ferrari Daytona. Italian cars are an instant lay with the female species because any douche can drive a bimmer, while someone kickass owns a Ferrari, because they are dick enough to build one less than is in demand. Besides- its a friggin' Ferrari!
Winner - Italian Cars

So... The winner is the Aryans of the auto world. Germany can outrun, outdrive and basically have its way with any manufacturer it wants, without even having to take it out to dinner (except France as of late.... damn Peugot).

Ironic fact of the day- Enzo Ferrari wanted to build the Ferrari F40 as a return to Ferrari dominanated racing. Turns out that the factory didn't back it up...so much for a dying mans dream eh?

First of all thats all rubish.

I dont know where to start first.

Not all italian cars are the same not all german cars are the same.

Is lamborghini today italian or german?

The old one was 100% italian, but this newer not so.

There are many many german engines, transmisions, suspensions and other mechanical components that will fall apart not even if you trash them but also in regular use.In fact they fall apart like the trashed italian engine. Some BMW, Audis, Merc, Opel and VW. Each brand have bad engines and other mechanical parts.

Also today, many manufacters test cars in nurburgring andthis is no issue.
Mugello is only one track in italy and its not true that all manufacters test they cars overthere.

First of all, each italian manufacter have they own track near factory.

are the opel vectra or vw passat testet in nurburgring. yeah right.

In the past , 50-ies, 60-ies, 70-ies, some in 80-es, italian cars ware very forward, very IQ ingienered due to the swiching between ferrari/maserati/lamborghini engine designers to fiat alfa romeo and lancia.

Many of today solutions on cars are from inicialy from italy.

TDI was italy made, common rail was italy made, FWD layout today was italy made, DOCH sistem used today was largely made with succes in italy. If you take a peek into an italian car that is in middle or upper class you will find many german parts. And so on I could talk days about the theme.

Your conclusion is to general and its more like a joke.

About succes in racing, le mans is only one competition. How many championships of WRC have italian and how much germans manufacturers? Lancia have won how much WRC titles? Alfa Romeo victoryes pre WWII? And also in 50-es, 60-es?

I would say its a 50-50 even if I am italian fan, both countries produces good cars but what I dont like with germans is that they have that bad habit to build cars that are already built (they are just bigger and bigger and the shape stays the same, no invention in some new things) while italian companies always tries to make something new...I agree that most things in auto industry were made and invented in Italy..I dont agree that italian cars cant be pushed to limits, as Tarquini sad "Its not about what you drive, its about how you drive", it is really like that if you have right person behind the wheel both cars could be driven on limits so i dont see the point of comparing them in that part same as for the track...if italians needed track like that they would build it..they are not small manufacturers that cant make a decent track to test cars ..I dont know the details but what I heard and what seems to be pretty logic is that italians use german part and that germans use italian parts, its normal thing but its much better if the companies are making parts for themselves because then we have a pure italian or german car. When we are talking about the design of the car Italian would take the win easily, even if someone of you dosesnt know new bmws have some fresh look because italian house started to design them, I would say that there are many italian designers that are working in other german car companies..so I would like to end these theme with one more sentse and that is In my opinion its 50-50 even if I think italians are making better cars but there is lot more to talk about mostly people dont judge cars by the wins in races(for sure if we calculate them Italy would win) so I didnt about it, but still we can talk for days on this theme
Cheers
